I too was having a difficult time in understanding the question even after watching the video. Several boards use AJAX forum tabbing, it is popular on xenforo. It has also been done on vBulletin sites, but I do not recall seeing a modification (that does not mean it doesn't exist). I have seen a modification called forum tabs, that should do what I think you are looking for. Let me see if I can find a reference to it.

You crack me up @KH99, one of the most knowledgeable people I have met on the forums here, knows the code pretty in depth, but hasn't created a forum. My kind of programmer! I have never looked at any of the mods till this year and that was so I could help the members of vBulletin.org.
