Edit: I believe I have the problem resolved. Don't know why but I had Always use Forum URL as Base Path turned on. When I turned it off the redirect went away.

Right now if you log in my forum you will receive a redirect error:

Invalid Redirect URL (http://mysite.com/)

I've run tools.php, and checked every area in the admincp and I can not find a link without www in front of it.

Now if you log in get the redirect, but then go to the home page you are logged in. Can someone help me find this problem.

Trust me I've been searching the internet and the forums and the only thing I found was this: How to Change The Redirect For The Login Form Link

I don't want to make code changes to the files unless I'm sure that will repair my little problem.

Edit:
Tested style - not the problem
Changed DNS to point to www.my_site.com - not the problem

Running:
vB 4.2.2 just in case you needed that info.
