For the most part I've lost all interest in reporting anything via Jira. It's just not being used properly. As an example:
I reported a bug in vB5 on December 6, 2012 and had to argue my point to keep it open.
On June 11, 2013 the same bug was reported by someone else.
Today, May 16, 2014 my original report was marked resolved and closed as a duplicate of the one reported after it.
Jira isn't being used properly by vB. The second report in June should have been closed that day (or at least near that date) as a duplicate of my report. Not wait well over a year to do it. But, I've been told it's not who reported it first, it's who participates more. Now that's one heck of a bug reporting system!
And that has happened more than once with bugs I've reported.

I've faced few disagreement with Vb staff when using Jira (some Jira ticket were marked duplicate and were re-open, others were marked trivial when it should be major), it wasn't the end of the world. I am still using Jira for unique ideas and improvements that I want VB to look at and explore, they will look at them because they are new and never were done before.
Also using Jira is better than using nothing and reporting topics on a forum that gets locked or marked duplicate and not properly tracked i.e., XF. There are many like these on XF btw. As for Cellarius, he just came and made it sound that VB 5.x is in a miserable situation . It is not, it needs a push in the right direction.
