Machiavelli, reportedly, suggested the idea in his book The Art of War, which is one of the books Tupac talked about reading while in prison. He never suggested it. His so-called fans made the tangential associations. I wouldn't go so far as to insult the man's intelligence. Not a fan of the gangsta rap movement, either. But from what I've seen and read, he was a decidedly intelligent person, who grew up in some difficult, if not impossible, situations.
