I did that and I got the blank page and when I try and view forumdisplay.php I get this error

Try disabling your modifications/plugins for now and see if you still have this problem.

for some reason the files werent overwritten, now thats done I'm getting db errors.

I can login the admin cp. Is there a way to backup all members/posts/threads/ then delete and start over fresh?

Do you have to run the install files when upgrading?
