I was unable to access thew admincp due to those errors so I couldn't use the fix above.
What I did was open includes/config.php and added

Code:

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

to the file and saved.

With hooks disabled I had access to admincp again, I uploaded the AE Detector xml file i edited as per ozzys' instruction replacing "split" with "explode" everywhere.
In the import product page selected Allow Overwrite (upgrade)

Went back and commented out the line I added to config.php and voila!
All good
