It works perfectly fine on 4.2.2 Alpha 1

In most cases, the reason why the buttons would not do anything is if the files have not been uploaded correctly.

Please ensure you're using an FTP program and not the File Manager in cPanel, and drag & drop the entire contents of the upload folder to the folder your forums are in
