The reason you cannot find what you are looking for is because @zachery is right, "you can't". What you are missing is how video and audio work through browsers. Read up on html5 video standards or using a flash player. With a bbcode all you can do is trigger the users player that is already loaded in the browser, either via an addon or extension to that browser. I hope this helps. Read up... you will get it.

For example many boards use jw_player, flow_player etc... When you play video the browser either loads up flash or plays through html5 codecs.
I would suggest running one of the two players above, because the user does not have to install vlc on his system. Unless that is specifically what you want to do. In that case look up what codecs on VLC you want to support.
