Use all the little tricks that are easily obtainable and that will discourage most that attempt since many barely know how to browse let alone aquire content.. There are even scripts that will replace the image with one of your choosing when someone tries to steal it. Integrating it into vbulletin is the tricky part.

As long as everything is already downloaded to your harddrive, I still cannot see how any of this would stop me from 'stealing' the images...
Just a quick look through the cached files would do it... I could just delete the cache before loading the page, to limit the number of files I'd have to search...
