Not by default, but the Shoutbox is collapsible via the normal collapse image

Are you using the latest version? There's been multiple SSL fixes, and we briefly ran SSL on DBTech without any issue

In either case, have them click the yellow triangle in the browser bar and load unsecured content - that will work.
