In this field my default admin group ID would be 6 so by your example I simply put IDmember6 & this should work for me? It doesn't have any effect. What options must I change so that groupID6 (admins) can add & remove SP?

I just put in 6 as my ID, still worked for me. Remember to rebuild your permissions after you have added the IDs. Also you can't give yourself SP.
