I'm waiting until there's a workaround before upgrading to 4.2, as my members have become accustomed to being notified when thanked.

Just as an aside, the workaround for this is to not use the core 4.2 function for notifying of rep, and instead re-enable Paul's mod in full. I can't provide detailed instructions for doing all of this but that will basically give you Like/Thanks notifications from Abe's Thanks hack once again.
