I had to remove it. But liked the idea and incorporated the same type of thing with RBS (rotating banner system), just for unregistered users to see the same type of thing in an area that doesnt cover anything.

You can easily place it elsewhere. like i've done with mine, I placed it more towards the centre so that the links you mentioned are not covered.
