Check AdminCP > Settings > Options > registration options > default settings and make sure Thread Display mode is set to Linear - Oldest First. If you need to mass change this setting for your users, you may do so in Maintenance > execute sql query and pick thread Mode-Linear and run that query and then pick Posts - Oldest First and run that query. Or, you can just tell the users they may select how they want to see them in Settings > General Settings > Thread Display Mode.
