That seems like it shouldn't be too much of a problem (for someone), it just quotes the post you're forking from and inserts a link to the previous thread, so it just involves inserting some text in the reply box of the newthread page.

Edit: Actually, that mod linked above only needed a few changes to the parts inserted in the template - the product xml file seems to work fine as is. I posted changes that should work in the mod thread.
