I'll be damned if I'm going to pass on a copy of my ID to GoDaddy to terminate their services. I have a domain registered through them. It's simple enough to move that to another registrar or let it expire and start over with another name.

Quote:
On December 22, Go Daddy, the world's largest domain name registrar, stated that it supports SOPA.[73] This prompted users from Reddit to organize a boycott.[74] [75] In addition, Jimmy Wales announced he would transfer all Wikimedia domains from Go Daddy.[76] The same day, Go Daddy rescinded their support, with its CEO saying, "Fighting online piracy is of the utmost importance, which is why Go Daddy has been working to help craft revisions to this legislation - but we can clearly do better... Go Daddy will support it when and if the Internet community supports it."[77]

My swing on this is if enough of GD's client base moved their domains to other registrars, their bottom line would suffer dramatically. Hit where it hurts, their profits.
