I also got the same problem with blank menus, unless you move you mouse over the options.

try to change the background color in this stylevar (body_color)
and
(Blockhead Background)
example how to track this stuff down

if you search for this in your templates youll see what stylevar is being used

this is the stylevar for it
change the font first . find this stylevar
blockhead_link_color
this will change the font color
I would do this one first..
before the background.
Posted both incase your background is off thats why you can see the font..
and posted for the font incase it's the font thats off..
