If the the birthday field is used the mod will check to make sure its in the correct format, ie. 02/14/2012

If the phone # field is used the mod will check to make sure the number is in the correct format, ie. 555-555-5555

There is no detection of what type of information is being requested from a member. So, there is no way to validate a date or phone number response.

Also, I just ran across something similar to what you want for phone numbers in a major paid project. That phone number format you want to use is only valid in some places. The entire world doesn't operate on US phone number formats. (ie: ###-###-########## is a valid format)
