Sure, you'll need to modify the php routine in the plugin file to switch from, or add, a usergroup check to the current guest check function. This occurs in two places and both will need an update to reflect whatever group controls you want to use.

If you plan to use database logging you may wish to further extend the modification to score usernames along with the ip address and cookies to even better secure things.

That said, this mod is not a foolproof way to limit views of your threads, by deleting cookies and / or spoofing IP addresses people can get through.
