Secondly, when Tim was at GlobalGold he did say I could have cPanel if I wanted, (I use a VPS), but that Plesk was less resource hungry.

That said, I struggle with Plesk and found cPanel more powerful and userfriendly. But as that only affects me I have gone with the advice about performance and stuck with it.
