I have installed Keycaptcha on two forums and I find it to be the MOST effective anti-spam solution. It stops spam bots right at registration. Any solution that only stops posting is still allowing SEO links on to your forum because some spammers just make profiles or accounts, and then put the links in to the account descriptions.

Keycaptcha isn't just the most effective solution, it's the best value because it's easy to use and configure.
