Can this be installed on Version 4 or not?

I've run into 2 problems so far trying to install and really wanted it for the 4th of July of but no one is responding to the questions here:

1) it doesn't like the /if in the header as now my version has /vbif instead of using that kind of tag (I am not a coder and don't know how to fix this problem)
2) There is no $header in the forumhome

(both of these are in the directions on installing it)
