There's no Enable/Disable for the vB mod, but you can disable the three settings:
Test IP address
Test User name
Test Email Address
and then it will continue accepting new registrations, without connecting to the SFS db (as best as I can tell).


Or, you can make the change to:
Query Connection Errors
What should happen if the remote connection times out when querying the new registration?
and Allow Registrations

I noticed no new registrations for several hours and checked the SFS statistics, and saw a ton of:
Result on field username - luk14lukboss [REMOTEERR] Unverfied and rejected by policy

It was rejecting all new signups.

It's down but registrations are not affected on my forum ..

Well, now the site says:

Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

The api is currently serving requests and once we get the site back up, we can feed it new submissions

Sorry about the downtime, sometimes it just cant be helped
