vb.org Archive - View Single Post - Authentication users on an external website?

I have two different servers located at novociv.com and novociv.org

I want to make a page on novociv.com that is closed to random viewers, but that users logged into my forums at novociv.org can view without logging in again. I also need to restrict this webpage to specific usergroups. I believe there's a way to do this with cookies, but I don't know how cookies work. I've been searching online and I can't find anything related to this. Any information or links to other resources would be greatly appreciated.

To clarify, the forums are on novociv.org and this is one single php page on novociv.com.
