Mind if I run with your idea and post an update?

I started with your original post but ran into a few issues (some missing curly braces to close the phrase names, sessionurl instead of sessionurl_q, etc.) and before I knew it I ended up adding code to cache the template (that will eliminate an extra query on every page) and also added a link for "Latest Albums" on the "What's New" tab.
