There is a setting in the stylevars refered to as doc width minimum. This is where you set the smallest width your forum will go down to and still looks correct in its layout. I was suggesting you set the resolution to whatever you have that set for and work off of that.
Let the forum expand to fit whatever higher resolution instead of starting out BIG and having problems when viewed at lower resolutions
