The manual is useless with only an index entry for Advertising but no content. But if you just have one banner or so, go to AdminCP>Advertising>Add new Ad>Page: Thread>Last Post Content. Or wherever. Lynne may be able to tell you a better location if you get her that picture she asked for.

If you get more than one ad you will likely want to rotate them: Rotating Banner System
