Unfortunately, as far as I know, BB code just doesn't work with the forum side bar. I personally don't use it right now (and I don't really use the forums atm. I'm just trying to use vB in some way bit by bit since I paid for it and I only really need the CMS side where even Wordpress would be infinitely better). However, that aside, I haven't come across any type of fixes and my best guess is that a file edit will be required.
