Thank you so much. I don't know how I missed it but in the CMS there is a list of articles that were published. I tried to make them unpublished but they would not delete. After clicking on the name of the individual article I then just hit the big red x delete and it was gone.

I'll have to play around with this a bit more but I think they got there by promoting to article. I just have not done this as of yet.
