In my tests, using my own email address, registration mail never arrived.
It did when tried with another email adrress.

Looks like, the email provider blocked (spam) emails coming from senders like "Forums".

From: Forums [webmaster@mysite.com]

The emails appear to be sent but do not arrive.

Another email provider did not block it, the email arrived and click to finish registration worked. I think liitle you can do about that.
