To downgrade to vB 4.0.8 would require that you took a complete and error free backup of your database before upgrading to vB 4.1. If you did, you can restore that database backup to a new database (not try to combine it with the current database) and then FTP the vB files matching with the version of vBulletin running when you took the database backup. You will also need to update the vB config.php file to match with the new database. Note though that any posts and such made after the database backup will be lost.
