Well, I'm a software engineer and not an artist or a user interface expert or anything, but it does look kind of plain. It could use more pictures an maybe a better style on the main page (whatever "better" might mean).

ETA: ..like this one, for example: it has some pictures and just looks like it has "more going on" on the main page (looks like it's using vBadvanced).
