I see this differently. Ofcourse the backend is of an utmost importance, but let me tell you that in today's software-world the frontend UI/UX is a HUGE factor in making a product successful. Remarkable enough, Internet Brands doesn't seem to have any insight in this, seeing what they did with the UI of vBulletin4. It is so unbelievable bad... and then to realize they charge a premium price for this.
Our company and foundation will keep a serious eye on XenForo. Upgrading to the unstable and dysfunctional vB4 is no option: our pre-sale purchase is still living on our local harddisk. Zipped that is. After 8 months Internet Brands still are unable to provide/convince. A big shame what they did to the reputation of this once outstanding/trusted software package.
They have lost -amongst hundreds of others- one of their biggest promotors: me. If Kier&Mike can come up with integrated Blogs and CMS I am sold.
