I looked into the archives and made several revisions trying to pin it down to explain it better but I did find a workable solution -
If I adjust the usergroup "Unregistered / Not Logged In" to "Yes" for the "Can view the chatbox" option, logoff works perfectly! I'd prefer to hide the chat from that group but for now, this is functionally alright.
Is that useful information for you?

Thanks (as always)
Hope all if well for you and yours
(Oh.. one last item: Are you certain you want to mention vBCms integration (as seen
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=170156) as a valid integration solution? I tried and tried to make it work until I realized the hack is for an older version and uses depreciated or non-existant code (won't work on 4.0.4) )
*** UPDATE ***
Finally frustrated with vbCMS, I disabled it and installed VbAdvanced and reset the permissions for the Unregistered group to not allowing viewing of the chats.. and, as you might expect, it now works famously and, as a bonus - the integration into VbAdvanced is awesome...
Not sure if others would benefit by further exploration of the issues I was having with vbCMS but I'm pretty much convinced - I'm back to vbAdvanced.
