your asking alot to integrate a different database into vbs, its not that easy
you can do a few things you could make a custom template with iframe capability's to hold joomla but if its outside of the root cookies will be a problem. people wont be able to stay logged in!. this is just stuff off the top of my head and some may work but its not an easy fix. I do a thing kind of like that as i have oscommerce in my vb template in iframe, works well and cookies work after long hard work on it, but I'm not calling the page first. you have to be in my site , not logged , but on a vb page to call it from navbar link.
you can of course find it in the net and go to the page without coming thru vb site, and it can be found with other domain names, so it works to some extent. but its not integrated with the vb data base, it could be done but its not an easy thing by any means as far as I know.
