What Lynne is saying is that you only need to run finalupgrade.php now, to finalize the upgrade. Your forum isn't hosed, it's just not completely upgraded yet.

You need to talk to your host about why you're getting an internal 500 error, and then re-run the upgrade. It will jump to finalupgrade.php, and if you can get it to load properly, it will finalize your upgrade
