Why don't do it at your own ? They don't invent the wheel a second time so tuning-primer / mysqltuner and maybe some profiling to see what your DB is doing all the time might help.

Same applies to all other services like Apache - apachetop as example or temporary running mod_status.

Depending on the OS - MySQL sometimes is configured to run with brakes enabled
