v4.0.100 release is out & available for use, it's fully compatible with both vB 3.8.x & vB 4.0.x .

Note: v2.0.0 was compatible with 3.8.x (unofficially, with a little edit for the product's XML file).

Maybe another hack I have installed made it so it wouldn't work.

Make sure you aren't using any other products/addons/plugins for the same purpose "adding features for quick reply".
You've to uninstall any other products that adds any features to the quick reply, and just keep this product which will do all the work since it contains all expected (and not expected ) features. Any modified templates related to the quick reply should be reverted also.
Please follow installation procedure of the new release 4.0.100 & tell me if you've any issues.
