I have an addon that has been delayed which is supposed to handle selling access to those kinds of things. I have been spending my time with vBCredits II which is currently on its second beta with my testers. It supports charging for any actions which you could also reward for. It does do automatic template edits with template hooks

once it is stable I will put a slimmed down version on vborg, but more info later (or on my site).
