When the extension usage is set to Image, you can only add it with the "Add image" feature (after you added the file). You need to set it to Both (or File only) to be able to upload it at the "Add File" page.

That's the purpose of the extension usage setting

I have a couple of questions/requests though.

Firstly is it possible to disable uploading of files in a category (For example if I have a category called PC with sub categories called apps and games I would want to stop people just uploading files into the main PC category)

Secondly, would it be possible to add a feature that would automatically delete files from the downloads page and also from the server after x amount of days. I have a site where request can be made for files so if the script could delete those files it would make things much easier for me (maybe others too)

I would plan on adding a category called request or something like that so maybe a category option could be "delete files after x days" or similar.

That's not possible at the moment.
