In my opinion, most .com's should be .net or .org if anything.

welcome the the 90's .... that thought went out with the dads of under constuction banners you remember the yellow workmen sign with under construction written under it

while you can use any domain ,.org.,info net come , .com is the most widely used name that everyone even you less tech savvy person knows about , .com is an automatic thing that everyone remembers and connects to the site name

but at the end of the day it really doesn't matter people will find you one way or another
