You going to want to install the whole thing. If you plan to ever use the CMS (I didn't like it) or use the blog system then you going to wnt to install the whole thing now. Makes everything much easier in the future.

Actually this is pretty easy to do and you have a few options.

Install The whole suite. Rename the index.php to something else like cms-index.php (I forgot is you can specify this in admin cp or not). Then just make a index.php file redirects to forum.php or go to your admin cp and make your forum use index.php.
