When you get the error, view the page source for that page and you will see the actual database error near the bottom of that page. It will have some information like this:

The actual mysql query/code/problem....

Thanks you so much for that useful information. I never knew you could see the error even if the page was left as a blank default error: "The database has encountered a problem." and that's it...
