Hi.
Whoa, so many big and professional forums. Congrats to their admins. My community is much more hobby/small-talk, though even so I try to give some level of professionalism in presentation and layout:
Site Name: The Infinity Program
URL: http://theinfinityprogram.com
Description: General discussion; general debate section is most popular.
Reason for Nomination: My community, though word-of-mouth and without a "main" website, has been around since 2004, and continues activity due to dedicated staff/regular members and the every-now-and-then newcomers.
I started my forum because I wanted to run my own community, and its subject was a secondary concern. In any case, it started out as a anime/manga forum but was turned into a general discussion forum. As forum management is a passionate hobby of mine, it was my intention from the start to make a community that would last, no matter the lulls in activity, or any other discouragement.
Finally, my intention also is to promote purposeful discussions (by regularly submitting new topics with my thought and input), to have guidelines more relaxed than the usual Miss Manner set (though to have more control over debate, with rules such as those against deception and evasion tactics), and to be relaxed (though not arbitrary) in our moderating.
Note: My forum has been using the vBulletin 3x software only since September 2008, and I am still getting used to it, as before then phpBB2 was the only forum software I've used. However, I have made some effort to customize the look. I won't go any further than that because I do not believe the changes are particularly noteworthy.
Anywho, this is my first time nominating. With such an impressive line-up above already, I do not wish to portray my community as on par, but I hope to have been fair in my presentation.
Regards,
Kevin
