Yea, I tried the same but it didn't work

. I did contacted them about this though. Find it rather bad to password protect the whole forum which confused a lot of people. Forward to an URL or to a message that the forums are being worked on is much better. I find it rather unprofessional :-\. Of course they need to access the main forums but a forward on the main url should be the way to go.
