I never recommend editing the php/mysql settings unless you are comfortable doing so. If you aren't comfortable doing so (and by that I mean, if you make a mistake, your server may go down and you need to know how to undo what you did to get it back up and running.... and not have a heart attack if your server goes down because of something you did!

) then go ahead and take a look at what you have those settings at and try changing them. Usually, there is something in the error_logs (if you don't know where they are, ask your host) to give you a clue about what to change.
