I have to do this manually as well because we leave the user in the special group for a time dependent on how much they donate -- three months for anything up to $24, six months for $25-$49 and a year for anything over that.

It would be nice to be able to set (in my case) three special groups that automatically expired after a time limit the admins could specify per group. Then just give the option off all defined groups in the approval menu when viewing donations.
