Your landing page should have relevant content. You want people to get as much info as possible but without overloading them. I would change it, make it clean and maybe add a recent topics hack, etc...

Im not a big fan of full width pages. But thats my opinion. Fix the width to 800-900px. colors are ok, but it does not stand out to me. Make your site stand out!

Also, keep everything flowing. All pages should share the same layout and color theme, etc...
