It can definitely be done, because we have something that does this on one of our forums (I just tested it) but I can't remember how we did it!

We had a mod developed to do this quite a long time ago but it's not installed on our forum so I'm really stumped at the moment as to what is preventing the duplicate threads. I have emailed one of my colleagues to ask him but I might not hear back from him until tomorrow.

Do the mods to prevent duplicate posts not achieve the same thing? After all, a thread is started with a post ;-)
