If you want to preserve the default phrase and only use "tickers" in certain forums, you might want to consider setting up a new phrase for "tickers/Tickers" and then put a template conditional in wherever the Tags phrase is in your templates. The conditional would specify which forums to use either phrase. Here's a good link to a list of conditionals and how to use them.
